About Guild Wars at RPG Stars

A brief description of our fan site, our history with ArenaNet, and our staff.

Guild Wars at RPG Stars A little information about our Guild Wars fan site
The Unofficial ArenaNet Forums were first opened to the public in June of 2002. Originally, RPG Stars could only offer forums for folks to discover and discuss information about ArenaNet. At the time, news about the "untitled game" was mighty scarce, but we continued in our support. We shared the RPG Stars name with other games during the early days. And, while the name "Guild Wars" had yet to be announced, and ArenaNet quietly worked behind the scenes, RPG Stars was here to provide an early avenue for information about the company. One of the first ArenaNet fans to register on our forums was Adovid, a member who was, and is, highly respected by others, and who continues to contibute to our community forums.

The Unofficial ArenaNet Forums rarely changed thoughout 2002. During this time, the founder of RPG Stars attended college to study graphic design. With the announcement of Guild Wars in April 2003, it was neccessary for RPG Stars to both properly reflect the direction of ArenaNet, and the announcement of Guild Wars. And so, from discussions which occured with ArenaNet in May 2001 at the e3, the entire direction of RPG Stars was given to promote Guild Wars. We brought on new staff- admirable people who could help the site grow and help other people learn. Our early Guild Wars moderating team consisted of Chile (me), Nick Tandoori, Son of Rah, and Wartoad.

In our latest incarnation under the title Guild Wars at RPG Stars, and at a new address, our site has expanded: In January of 2004, Phur joined our staff as a contributing member to the moderating and writing team: Son of Rah assumed more responsibility as the Corporate Relations Manager for Guild Wars at RPG Stars: the contributions to our site by the Guild Wars Alpha Testers, Baranor, Dutchman, Adovid, and Ghostraptor (now employed at NCSoft) should also be noted: we've added more official information about Guild Wars as the information has been made available: we've added more Guild Wars downloads than many sites you will find: and, our forums continue to offer a safe and orderly avenue for discussions about the game.

In September of 2004, Wartoad effectively retired from active duty, and our staff expanded further with the nominations of both Nuxtor and Aiki Woce to our crew. Their excellent news reporting and pleasant bedside manners have continued the tradition of our site well into this new year, and their acceptance into the Guild Wars Alpha has strengthened our collective understanding of Guild Wars. We continue to promote Guild Wars on our new address with the underlying principle that we are here to help people learn more about the game.
