Guild Wars Chat- The first browser chat for Guild Wars
A chat channel for Guild Wars at RPG Stars visitors to discuss both Prophecies and Factions in a semi-interactive environment. Please feel welcome to use the guide listed below the chat panel to help you get registered and signed in.

Guild Wars Chat Tips
Using our IRC chat client is fairly straight-forward. However, we've included a short guide to help you negotiate your way through the assorted functions available through the Gamesurge network. For more advanced commands, we suggest you visit the Official Gamesurge Website for more details.

Changing Nicknames	Register An Account	Logging In

Note:
If you have loaded this page, and you are seeing a little red x like a broken image link, it is quite likely that your computer does not have the latest version of JAVA installed. This is not your fault. Rather Microsoft lost a legal battle with Sun Microsystems and no longer installs JAVA with their most recent browsers. In order to use our chat client, you should visit the Sun Java Downloads page and download the latest version of JAVA.

Changing Nicknames

As you've probably noticed, you are currently logged in as an anonymous user. If you wish to be known by a special nick name type:

/nick enter_your_name
for example:

/nick Guildwars_Fanboi

Note the space between the end of the word nick and the beginning of your new nickname. After typing this into the chat panel, you'll note that your username changes in the channel list and your messages are relayed with your new nickname.

Register An Account

It's very important to note that registration on the Gamesurge network does not reserve a username for you. However, should you be offered additional features by the Operators of our Guild Wars channel, you will likely want the ability for the server to recognize you should you log off and then back on. Logging In

Once your account is registered, it's pretty easy to login. Logging in is useful in that it identifies you to everyone in the channel. If you've registered correctly, an e-mail will be dispatched to the mail account you used to register. Contained inside of the message will be your username and your password. Below is the chat channel command to login from the chat window:

/authserv auth Name Password
For example:

/authserv auth Jenny 8675309

If my name was Jenny and my password was 8675309, then the server would recognize me and my nick would change along with whichever Op controls were granted to my account.

Expressing Actions

Most regulars from the Battle.net network will remember this feature. Because Battle.net is essentially an IRC network, some of the legacy IRC commands were also available. One of those commands was the action command. Here is how it works:

/me does something here

for example:

/me runs around the room tossing cookies to the Guld Wars fans
would print:
Chile runs around the room tossing cookies to the Guld Wars fan

Join Channel

The Gamesurge Network is a very large IRC Organization and there are plenty of different channels to explore related to numerous topics. Should you decide to venture into other channels, the join command should become a useful command for you to know:

/join #channelname

For Example:

/join #guildwarsstars
will bring you back to our channel.

Leave Channel

The /leave command is the red-headed step-sister to the /join command. Should you decide to venture into other channels, but you find yourself bored with the conversation (or lack thereof) you might want to leave. While you can right click on the channel name and close the channel using our client, typing /leave works just as well:

Quit IRC

The /quit command will log you off the GameSurge IRC network. It's just that easy! :D
