The Ultimate Gamers Weekend Survival Kit
Another Guild Wars preview event is upon us, and I am sure that many of you want to spend the entire weekend on it, preferably every waking hour. And if at all possible have your waking hours greatly outclass your sleeping ones.
So, what to do, what to do? Well, in a very real sence you are preparing for a camping trip. Whether you take off for a weekend in the mountains or a weekend of gaming, you'll be closing yourself off from the outside world, and you'll be needing supplies, sleeping gear and other nice and usable items. So... here goes!
- sleeping bag
- low carb microwave dinner
- low carb snacks
- breakfirst kits for two days
- diet coke or normal coke
- coffee
- green tea
- apples
- pillow
- cellular phone
- eyedrops
- candy bars (chooocolate)
- clean clothes
- lock on your door
- stereoset
- alarmclock
Sleeping Bag: The most obvious of items. A sleeping bag keeps you warm during playing. During daytime this might not be an issue, but once you're down to 15+ hours of gaming, you need your sleeping bag as your internal heating will have gone haywire.
Low carb microwave dinner: Microwave dinners are easy as hell to use. Slap in microwave, game untill it peeps, pull out again and eat. Why low-carb? Well, there's a very good reason for that: Carbohydrates tend to make people sleepy for a while. Low carbs=less sleepy. Unless you want to take a quick nap after dinner of course to wake yourself again, in that case be my guest.
Low carb snacks: Snacks are required in between dinners. Carby snacks (potato chips) make you sleepy... so no carby snacks!
Diet coke or normal coke: Caffeine. Need I say more? Just don't drink too much at the same time or you'll be running to the toilet all the time.
Coffee: See above
Green Tea: Suurpriiiise... it keeps you awake and is good for you. Nothing wrong with that.
Apples: Another surprising object, but apples function very well as a snack, and they also tend to keep you awake. Dunno what it is, but its healthy and gives you energy.
Pillow: Need to sleep in front of your keyboard? Your pillow is your friend. Want back support? Use the pillow. Want to put your feet on something soft? Mr Pillow is glad to lend a hand.
Cellular phone: Got it? Set to silent or better yet, TURN IT OFF. BYE BYE OUTSIDE WORLD!
Eyedrops: Ever stared at a pc monitor for an extended amount of time? You'll need eyedrops for your painfull eyes that's for sure... ooh the pain, the pain. Unless you want to sleep of course.
Candy bars: Chocolate=energy and thanks to the sugar its also brain food. Hurray! And it tastes yummy.
Clean clothes: Surprinsingly enough, spending three minutes on changing your outfit after a night of gaming works refreshing as well. Also add some deodorant in there, as well as a toothbrush while you're at it. It gives you a nice "fresh start" feeling.
Lock on your door: You don't want mom/dad/your girlfriend/your wife/your cat (or dog, or kids, or parrot, or pet alligator) interfering with your games now do you? Lock it, and eat the key. On second thought, no, don't do that, its annoying when you have to go to the bathroom.
Stereoset: For when you're bored of the GW music.
Alarmclock: Feel like sleeping? Set the damned thing! Don't sleep more than half an hour.... you're wasting precious time! Precious! My precious! ALL MINE! GIVE IT BACK THEY STOLE IT FROM USSSSS MMyyyyy preeecciOUSSSS oh wait, no not now, get back in there stupid thing. Back I tell you, BACK!
That about covers the basic neccesities for the weekend I guess. Hope you're having fun!
